...well...surely motivated!

So... the fall fling...Cat1,2,3 48.9 mile recap...

-round 83 degrees with about a 10mph wind
-the race was 6 laps around an 8 mile rectangle with 3 noticeable rolling hills...
-again a cat 1,2,3 race so we had the ABD/GearGrinder team well represented with folks like (Mr. Meyers, White Brothers, a Schrotlein, and a Skeeter) all in all there were about 25 1,2 guys and 25 cat 3's including teamate Sr. Sillis

The race started with a 2oo meter neutral rollout to the start line, and the attacks started immediately. I was far enough back to not see, nor care about anything trying to get away on the first lap. Comming around to start the third lap a group of 6 or 7 had escaped from the main field and were chasing a group of 5-6 that had snuck off the front without me noticing or caring once more... As I was sitting on Mr. Meyers wheel in the peleton along with at least 4 of the ABD/GG team I had no worries. I heard mention that the odds of the ABDer up the road were getting less and less as a few other guys made the bridge to the main chase group, which was about 30sec off the front of the peloton at the moment.

I look up and see my ride up the the chase group leaving me! Meyers decided to bridge and I knew I needed to be with him, so doing my only cyclecross of the season, I moved up along the large flat grassy shoulder and hopped onto his wheel along with another cat 3 ABD member. I just listened to whatever the Cat.1 had to say about pace making and pulling through and sure enough we caught the chase group a few miles down the road. Now the chase group was about 7, and with equal work done by everyone we caught the 5-6 that were dieing up the road by the end of the lap. Those guys were feeling it and some couldn't hang on and were dropped.

About 1 mile after the start of the 5th lap a White Bro, attacked out of our group and I went with along with another cat 3. After being assured that the other two ABD/GG in the break would not chase we all decided to work together and we were off! About another mile or so down we were greeted by the other White and a Cat 2 Turin fellow. So now a group of 5 gaining time on everyone with less than two laps to go!

The teamwork was pretty well distributed, as I didnt hear any swearing in any direction. I had some fun bluffing some cramps before the start of the final lap, which caused my fellow Cat 3 to put in an attack and cramp himself out a bit... On the final lap I put an attack in on one of the rollers which took out the large legged Turin rider leaving two Cat 1 White Brothers and two Cat3 noobz. It was pretty clear we were not getting caught as the main field was practically out of sight... so sprint setup ensued, a slight mixup of a rear derailure and a front tire took one white brother out of the sprint... I hesitated and the sprint started, the other White let up and I ran out of room to come around my opponent...finishing 2nd place...yep. I sleep with the medal...

so back to training, seeing that it is working! and watch out collegiate riders...(although I am currently a B racer, and they might not upgrade me until I get some results... which might be frustrating come February...)

so Cheers!

If you're a 3, you don't need approval to upgrade to the As in collegiate racing.

You just show them your USA Cycling license and say you'd like to register for the Mens A race.
